about us...
Eastbourne Allotments and Gardens Society is a not-for-profit organisation. We are entirely self-funding so rely heavily on our trusted band of Committee Members, Trustees and other volunteers.
Peter Birchall
Peter has had a plot in Eastbourne for many years and is one of our longest-serving committee members. Not only does he have a wealth of information on pests and weeds, but he's very knowledgeable on carnivorous plants.
John Dann
Also our musically inclined blog master, John is always very keen to share music related trivia and courgettes! Previously he has won best-kept allotment for his immaculate plot.
Teresa Comba
With a background in nursing, Teresa's approach to gardening is very precise. She loves her flowers and can often be found browsing our shop for more plants to take home.
Graham Hinchliffe
As a member of the Heritage Orchard, Graham is keen to ensure the older varieties of apple are not lost. He can often be found on-site with his faithful dog at his side.
Stuart Walter
Stuart has a background in business banking making him the ideal candidate to keep our finances in order. Not only that, he grows a great swede!
Tim Dimon
Tim is our newest trustee. With a background in retail and horticulture he has helped us improve the shop facilities and is always ready with gardening tips and advice.
Louise Elms
An allotment holder for over 15 years, Louise originally joined the team as admin assistant, taking over the post of manager in 2019. When not in the office she can be found volunteering for the local ex-commercial hen re-homing.
Lucy Grotefeld
Passionate about animals and flowers, Lucy can often be found chatting with chickens and rabbiting away to, er....rabbits! Her background in art means her beautiful plot is more of a garden than a traditional veg patch.
Our committee members are:
Tim Cook, Alan Cruise, David Jones, Alison King, John Nelson and Sue Parsons
If you are interested in joining our committee, remember to put forward your nomination before the AGM. Check noticeboards for the announcement when forms can be collected from the office.
We also have a large group of volunteers who help with the shop, general maintenance, the website and much more. We're always looking for new volunteers to help keep our allotments looking great.
