What to do in MARCH

Daffodils are poking their heads through so Spring really is on its way.  Time to start sowing seeds in earnest and fill every spare window sill with seed trays

  • under cover sow courgettes, leeks, peas, cucumbers, beetroot

  • sow broad beans directly outside

  • feed trees, shrubs and perennials with a slow-release fertiliser.  Dig in manure if ground is workable

  • cut Autumn fruiting raspberries down to the ground

  • keep an eye on the forced rhubarb and pick when ready.  Mulch non-forced rhubarb with a thick layer of manure

  • plant chitted early potatoes
