Where to sow
Sow April to May.  Earlier sowings should be made in trays under glass at 13c.  Later sowings can be done directly into a prepared seed bed in shallow drills 2cm deep.

What next
For seeds sown under glass, prick out into trays 5cm apart once the first pair of true leaves are showing.  Once you're ready to plant out, gradually harden off and plant in rows 45cm apart, leaving 45cm between plants.
Outdoor sowings should be thinned to 10cm apart.  Once they are about 15cm tall they can be lifted and transplanted to their final growing space.

Top tip
Brassicas like a firm, fertile soil.  Make sure they are kept well watered, especially once the heads start to form.
